 Govt. Attestation: An Apostille, Authentication, Attestation, Legalization and Verifications from : State Home Ministry,  Divisional Magistrate,  Apostille (Ministry of External Affairs) An Embassy Legalization.

After Successful completion of IFS Course (Diploma, M.Sc. Forensic Studies and Higher Study Level Courses) students can apply for attestation of their certificates with the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India and / or the Foreign Ministry / Ministry of External Affairs, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of Higher Education or Notary, Government of India etc for using them international level. The Candidate should submit the said application in person at the respective Govt. office or signed online application form receipt by authorized person only. Students should bring their Original documents and submit along with copies to be attested. The process of the application and attestation will be delayed if the information furnished is incomplete or inaccurate. Apostille stickers / labels / seals are issued on certificates including marriage, birth, death, affidavits, power of attorney, educational documents like mark sheets, degree and diploma. These certificates or documents may first authenticated by the designated or authorized agencies. Educational documents may initially attested by RAC and then Apostilled. Normally, Attest only higher level course certificates like- M.Sc. Forensic Studies etc, and not Short Term Certificates etc…

Attestation is required when public documents need to produce in the different country. Attestation could be Notary, Home Department (State Home Ministry), HRD, Apostille and Embassy attestation. All these attestation depend upon the country in which the documents are going to be used.

Now IFS Certificates can be attested, authenticated and verified from – State Home Ministry, + Divisional Magistrate + Human Resource Development Department, Apostille (Ministry of External Affairs) An Embassy Legalization.

An Apostille- is the legalization of a document for international use in all nations that belong to the Hague Convention.
Authentication- confirms the identity of a person.
Attestation – is an evidence which states that a document is attested.
Legalization- is the official confirmation that a signature, seal or stamp on a document is genuine Verification- the documents are verified by the university and termed as authentic Notarization – is the stamping or sealing, dating and signing the document after sufficient evidence and ensures authenticity.

Full forms of the short terms used-

HRD – Human resource Department – This department works under the home ministry of the particular state and maintains the record of all degree certificate issued from Universities of that state.
GAD – General Administrative Department
SDM – Sub Divisional Magistrate

Documents required to be submitted for above process –

1) Original passport.
2) All the original certificates + Mark Sheet.
3) A letter from the employer / university that authentication of educational documents is required should be enclosed.
4) One Passport Size Photograph.
5) Authorization Letter.
 

Request for attestation only accepted in proper channel. Students and Course types not eligible for specific attestation will be attested by alternative methods. Acc. to: Government of India, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of Higher Education- Normally, it is not necessary to get Board / University Certificates Degrees authenticated. This application needs to be made only in respect of such foreign countries as require authentication of Certificates / degrees issued by Indian Boards / Universities / Government bodies.

The authentication needs to be done only prior to departure and getting visa. It is not advisable to get authentication done either for searching for employment or in anticipation of getting jobs abroad.

As a rule the prescribed application form should be completed, signed and presented to the Authenticating Officer.

Authentication will be done only in the back of original certificates/ degrees/ diplomas. One photocopy of the certificate to be authenticated is to be attached with the application for record. Original Mark-sheet(s) should be shown and photocopies should be attached along with the application form for authentication of the degree/ diploma certificate(s). Before submission of documents for authentication the applicant should remove the lamination on the back of the certificate.

The individuals coming personally for getting their educational certificates authenticated, will have to collect the authenticated certificates the same day. This Ministry is not responsible for certificates not collected. The Ministry reserves the right to refuse authentication without assigning any reason, whatsoever. Normally, mark-sheets are not authenticated. Only the final qualification is authenticated.

Currently attestation is available only for M.Sc. Forensic Studies courses (2 Year Degree Course) and Other Specific IFS Courses. Above process should be completed by student only with IFS guidance.
